RB Davis to retire a Panther

The Carolina Panthers are going to sign RB Stephen Davis this week, so he can retire with the organization according to thebuzz.com. This is a classy move by the Carolina organization. Davis, who is a three-time Pro Bowler, played 11 seasons for three different teams (Washington, Carolina and St. Louis) compiling 8,052 yards and 65 touchdowns.

Testaverde is most likely starter

With David Carr yet to be cleared to play by medical staff, Vinny Testaverde has moved back to the top of the depth chart. Testaverde took most of the snaps in practice on Wednesday, and at this point is expected to start. Rookie Matt Moore has taken some snaps with the first team as well, in case Testaverde's sore Achilles' tendon flares up. Testaverde seemed to have a little bit of chemistry with Steve Smith, something that Carr has yet to find. If you don't have to start a Panthers quarterback, please don't.

Carr downgraded

The Panthers downgraded quarterback David Carr to questionable on Saturday because of his back injury, according to the Charlotte Observer. He returned to practice on Friday after missing two days and was originally listed as probable. Carr will be a game-time decision on Sunday. Vinny Testaverde is expected to be the starter if Carr can't go, but the Panthers may chose to go with undrafted rookie Matt Moore since Testaverde joined the team only this week.

Carr misses another practice

Panthers quarterback David Carr missed his second straight practice Thursday because of a sore back, according to the Associated Press. Coach John Fox was unsure if Carr could practice on Friday. "I was hopeful he would today, but he did not,' Fox said. "We'll see what happens.' Fox didn't say if it would be undrafted rookie Matt Moore and the geriatric Vinny Testaverde under center Sunday if Carr can't go, but fantasy owners want nothing to do with either of them. Sadly, losing Carr would be a big blow to the value of Steve Smith.

Carr may not throw Thursday

Panthers quarterback David Carr didn't practice Wednesday and may not throw again on Thursday because of his injured back, according the Charlotte Observer. Carr is expected to give it a go this Sunday against the Cardinals, but his back problems make him a very risky start for fantasy owners.

Carr on the sideline

Quarterback David Carr injured his back during a Will Smith sack in the first quarter against the Saints. Matt Moore entered the game for the Panthers in Carr's place. The Panthers have had injury problems at the quarterback position this year, but Jake Delhomme was warming up his injured shoulder before the game and is listed as the third quarterback for today's game. If Carr is unable to return, Moore should play the rest of the game, and then the pressure will be on Delhomme to return for the next week's game.

Delhomme out again

Jake Delhomme's name appears on the inactive list again, meaning David Carr will start at quarterback for the Panthers on Sunday against the Saints. Delhomme has not played since he suffered an elbow injury in Week 3. Carr struggled against the Buccaneers defense last week, but the Saints haven't been nearly as tough against the pass this season. In fact, they rank 25th against the pass this season.

Delhomme hopes to play

Jake Delhomme acknowledged that surgery is a last resort option for his injured right elbow. However, he said he believes he can treat it through rehabilitation. Delhomme also told the Charlotte Observer that he is hopeful of playing on Sunday against the Saints. Delhomme owners have no choice but to sit back and play the waiting game at this point. He has yet to throw a pass since he suffered the injury back in Week 3, but he intends to test his elbow during practice this week.

Delhomme might need elbow surgery

Could Jake Delhomme require surgery to repair the damage in his strained elbow? Coach John Fox admitted Sunday that is a possibility and that surgery would "thwart the majority" of the quarterback's season, according to the Charlotte Observer. "There's an option that he could have surgery," Fox added. "I can't tell him what he's going to have. It's his arm and his body, but that is a possibility." It sounds like surgery is likely at some point but that he will try to rehab it in an attempt to save his season and delay surgery until after the season. We'll have to wait for more information, though, before we know exactly what is happening with Delhomme. David Carr will start until Delhomme is ready to play.

Delhomme unlikely to play

Jake Delhomme was unable to practice on Saturday and is not expected to play on Sunday against the Buccaneers, according to ESPN. David Carr is slated to make his first start for the Panthers. Carolina quarterbacks haven't had much luck against Tampa over the years, so fantasy owners should strongly consider their other quarterback options.

Morgan won't play

Dan Morgan has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, according to the Charlotte Observer. He did not practice on Friday and was officially listed as out on the injury report with a foot injury. James Anderson is slated to start in place of Morgan, who would normally be replaced by Adam Seward. However, Seward is nursing a calf injury. Carolina's linebacker shortage can only help Carnell Williams' cause.

Delhomme misses another practice

Jake Delhomme did not practice on Friday, yet he is still hopeful of playing on Sunday against the Buccaneers. "I'm still holding out hope," Delhomme told the Charlotte Observer. "When a couple of years ago or whenever I broke my thumb, I didn't take a snap until Saturday morning. So we'll see. I am feeling better. I'm gripping the ball; it feels pretty good. So we'll see from here." Delhomme is nursing a strained right elbow. Barring a dramatic turn of events, David Carr will start on Sunday against the Buccaneers. Carolina quarterbacks haven't had much success against the Bucs lately, so fantasy owners should strongly consider their other options regardless of whether Delhomme or Carr gets the start.

Morgan sits out

Dan Morgan did not practice on Wednesday. The team cited an ankle injury, but the Charlotte Observer notes that he had heel and hamstring problems during Week 3. Adam Seward would normally replace Morgan in the starting lineup, but he also missed practice with a calf injury. If Morgan and Seward can't play, James Anderson would most likely get the start. He filled in for Morgan on Sunday after he left the game. Rookie Jon Beason played middle linebacker in college, but he he's been lining up on the weak side for the Panthers.

Delhomme doesn't throw

Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme didn't throw any passes on Wednesday because of the strained elbow that knocked him out of last week's game. He told the team's website that he might try to throw on Thursday. It is becoming pretty clear that Delhomme's Sunday will be spent on the sidelines. David Carr would get the start in his place against the Buccaneers and fantasy owners should look another direction for their quarterbacking needs.

Delhomme gets good news

An MRI revealed no structural damage to Jake Delhomme's strained right elbow. "I feel pretty good; I'm a little sore," Delhomme told Tuesday's Charlotte Observer. "I strained it. I'm day-to-day. Hopefully I'll be better tomorrow. I'll be getting a ton of treatment on it and we'll go from there." David Carr would start if Delhomme were unable to play on Sunday against the Buccaneers. The Panthers haven't ruled out Delhomme for Sunday, so neither should his fantasy owners. We'll keep you updated on his condition throughout the week leading up to kickoff on Sunday.

Morgan injured

Dan Morgan suffered shoulder, hamstring, and heel injuries during the Week 3 win over the Falcons. Furthermore, Tuesday's Charlotte Observer reports that he is listed as day-to-day with tendonitis in his lower leg. Morgan is a physical mess right now, but the good news is that none of the injuries are concussion related. We'll keep IDP owners updated on his status throughout the week.

Wesley placed on IR

The Panthers placed cornerback Dante Wesley on injured reserve on Wednesday, according to the Charlotte Observer. He will miss the remainder of the season with a broken collarbone. The team re-signed Curtis Deloatch to take Wesley's place on the roster. Wesley was nothing more than a depth player. Thus, he possessed no IDP value.

Salley's season is over

The Panthers placed Nate Salley on season-ending injured reserve on Wednesday, according to the Charlotte Observer. He has been sidelined by a knee injury since mid-training camp. Salley had been penciled in as a starter before he suffered the injury. This is a tough break for the Panthers, as safety is clearly an area of weakness for their defense.

Jarrett inactive again

Dwayne Jarrett was on the inactive list for Sunday's loss to the Texans. The Charlotte Observer reports that Jarrett was bothered by a hamstring injury during the preseason and has yet to catch up with fellow wideouts Keary Colbert and Drew Carter. Jarrett was a popular deep sleeper pick among fantasy owners. Unfortunately, he hasn't lived up to expectations just yet. He still has value in keeper leagues, but it's hard to say whether he'll make much of an impact this week.

Salley sidelined

Nate Salley did not practice on Thursday, according to the Charlotte Observer. He is nursing a sore knee. Salley is listed behind Chris Harris and Deke Cooper on the depth chart, so his potential absence shouldn't be a big blow to the Panthers.
