Croyle sits above depth chart
LJ done for the year
Larry Johnson (foot) will not play again this season, setting up Kolby Smith to make one more start against the Jets. Some pundits will blame Johnson's breakdown on the workload he received in 2006, but the play that caused his injury would have torpedoed just about any back

LJ out again
Chiefs running back Larry Johnson has been ruled out of Week 14 due to a right foot injury, the Kansas City Star reports. Kolby Smith will start in his place. Johnson has not played since Week 9. The Chiefs travel to Denver this week. Smith will once again be a solid fantasy start, as the Broncos have one of the league's worst run defenses.

Johnson ruled out
Chiefs head coach Herm Edwards confirmed on Wednesday that running back Larry Johnson would not play in Week 10 due to a right mid-foot sprain. "What I've been told... from our doctors is that his foot is still (swollen) and they're still trying to look at it to find out exactly where he's at," Edwards tells the Kansas City Star. "All I know is what I just told you." Priest Holmes will start in his place, and rookie Kolby Smith will also see some of the action. The Chiefs are facing the league's worst run defense in the Broncos, but it's tough to know what to expect out of Holmes and Smith. It doesn't help that the Chiefs starting tackles were also out on Wednesday.

Kennison has been ruled out
LJ returns to practice, should start

Johnson misses another practice
Larry Johnson missed practice for the second consecutive day Thursday and is now listed as questionable for Sunday's game in San Diego, the AP reports. Johnson is nursing what the team calls a slightly pulled hamstring. "It's not so bad where he can't run," head coach Herm Edwards said. "I mean it's sore, and what we don't want to do is obviously put him in a position where he really hurts his hamstring and guys have sore hamstrings at times and we are trying to rest him." We'll have a much better idea of where LJ is at after the Friday practice. Right now, we still expect him to play, somehow, against San Diego.

Johnson misses practice
Chiefs running back Larry Johnson did not practice on Wednesday. "He had a sore hamstring and he didn't work today," head coach Herm Edwards tells the team's official web site. "No, I'm not concerned. He's just sore. He should be okay." We're not at all worried. For all we know, LJ has a clause in his contract that says he never has to practice on Wednesday.

McIntosh improving
Chiefs left tackle Damion McIntosh practiced fully on Thursday after missing Wednesday's session due to right knee soreness. "He's fine, I mean, he's sore. He's coming off surgery but he's played the played the last two games and we anticipate he'll play this game. He's getting stronger," head coach Herm Edwards tells the team's official web site. We fully expect McIntosh to play this Sunday against the Vikings.

Kennison out again
The Chiefs have listed wide receiver Eddie Kennison as out for the Week 3 clash with the Vikings. He strained his right hamstring in the season opener. Dwayne Bowe will start in his place. Fantasy owners may take a look at Bowe in touchdown-heavy scoring leagues.

Bowe picks off Gonzo, talks big
Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe caught his first touchdown on Sunday, even though the pass was intended for a teammate. "He made a play," tight end Tony Gonzalez tells the Kansas City Star. "He ran the wrong route, but I'm happy that he got his first touchdown, even if it might've been mine. He came out of nowhere and grabbed it." Bowe also provided a preview of Week 3, saying, "Next week, we're going home, and it will be the D. Bowe show." Hey, rookie, it may be a bit early to sound so confident. Your team is 0-2 and your offense stinks. Bowe has shown some playmaking skills, which makes us think he's a good guy to own in keeper leagues.

Kennison could miss a few games
Chiefs wide receiver Eddie Kennison was previously ruled out of week 2, but he could also miss a few more games. "I would say it's probably a couple of weeks." head coach Herm Edwards tells the team's official web site. Kennison strained his right hamstring in the season opener. Edwards did not think it was a long-term injury. Dwayne Bowe will presumably start in place of Kennison, but it doesn't really matter, as no Chiefs receiver is worth using for Sunday's trip to Chicago.

Kennison out for week two
Chiefs wide receiver Eddie Kennison will not play this Sunday against the Chicago Bears, the Kansas City Star reports. Kennison pulled his right hamstring on the first play of the season opener. The Chiefs have not provided a timetable for his return. Dwayne Bowe will likely start in his place. The Chiefs offense has been dismal since the start of training camp, and fantasy owners shouldn't look to use anyone from this team outside of Tony Gonzalez and Larry Johnson, especially against the Bears.

Johnson may be limited early
Chiefs running back Larry Johnson won't open this season on a pace for 400 carries. Head coach Herm Edwards plans on limiting his workhorse, at least early on. "He's going to be on a little bit of a leash early," Edwards tells the Kansas City Star. "He has to get his legs underneath him. Michael Bennett is healthy, and that's good. It gives us another runner. It's not all on LJ... We're protecting Larry. That's important. But the kind of guy he is, after week four I know he's going to come up to me and say, 'I can carry it a few more times if you need me to.'" Don't panic, fantasy owners. In 2006, Larry carried the ball only 17 times in the season opener and had 16-carry and 15-carry afternoons early in the year. Herm's plan, plus a very tough schedule against the run early in the year, could mean a slow start for LJ. If you weren't prepared for a potentially slow start, you shouldn't have drafted him.
