Interest in McKinnie?

The Buccaneers may be in the hunt for a veteran offensive tackle to replace starter Luke Petitgout, who was lost for the season with an ACL injury. A report in a Tampa newspaper speculated that the Bucs had contacted the Vikings regarding Bryant McKinnie, but the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that there is no evidence to support that suspicion. McKinnie has had a lousy season thus far. He is ridiculously overpaid to the point that we'd be surprised if the Bucs would agree to take on his huge salary even if the Vikings were willing to part with their starting left tackle.

Stevens sentenced

Jerramy Stevens was sentenced to 12 days in jail and fined $3,160 due to his drunk driving conviction last month in Arizona. However, the sentence was stayed pending an appeal, meaning Stevens will not have to serve time immediately. In fact, the St. Petersburg Times speculates that Stevens won't have to serve the time until after the season is completed. We're still waiting for the league to step in and suspend Stevens, who hasn't done anything to warrant fantasy consideration since he left Seattle as a free agent.

Williams suffers torn patellar tendon

The injury that forced Carnell Williams out of Sunday's game early is being described as "a potentially career-threatening torn patellar tendon in his right leg," according to Yahoo Sports. Williams is expected to make a dreaded visit to Dr. James Andrews on Monday to determine his next course of action. We'll learn more about this injury on Monday, but it's pretty clear that Cadillac is done for the season, and we can only hope he's able to make a full recovery. In his place on Sunday, Earnest Graham ran 17 times for 48 yards and a touchdown, while Michael Pittman gained 90 yards on 15 carries. It's unclear what Jon Gruden has in mind long-term, but it would appear the two backs are likely to split time fairly evenly, with Graham having the edge in the battle for goal line carries.

Hilliard limited

Ike Hilliard was limited during practice on Thursday due to an ankle sprain, according to the team's official website. He suffered the injury prior to Week 3 and still played on Sunday, so we expect him to play in Week 4 against the Rams. Hilliard is still stuck in a platoon with Michael Clayton and Maurice Stovall, meaning he's of little use to fantasy owners.

Day off for Galloway

Buccaneers wideout Joey Galloway was limited in practice Wednesday because of a team decision, according to the official injury report. Galloway will be rested most Wednesdays during the season, so don't fret about his availability for this week.

Clayton benched by Gruden Sunday

Michael Clayton was benched Sunday after making two big mistakes. "He dropped the ball. Then he fumbled the ball," Gruden said, according to the St. Petersburg Times "I'm sure he's mad at me for taking him out of the football game." Considering Clayton only has two catches for 23 yards on the season, he shouldn't be anywhere near your fantasy lineup anyway.

Hilliard plans to play through ankle sprain

Even though Ike Hilliard has not practiced the past two days due to a high-ankle sprain, he vowed to play Sunday. "I've come too far, man," Hilliard said, according to the St. Petersburg Times. "I've been waiting for this opportunity to be a starter. I'll be there with bells on." Should Hilliard end up sitting, Michael Clayton would start.

Brooks losing reps

For the first time in his 13-year career, Derrick Brooks watched from the sideline during some passing situations during Sunday's win over the Saints. Head coach Jon Gruden told the St. Petersburg Times that he will continue to replace Brooks with Cato June in some passing situations. IDP owners shouldn't lose any sleep over this move. After all, Brooks sat out for roughly a dozen plays on Sunday and still finished the game with nine tackles and a forced fumble.

Williams active, will start

It appears as though Carnell Williams will play on Sunday against the Saints, as his name was not among those listed on the team's inactive list. The rib injury that knocked Williams out of Week 1 limited him during practice all week; however, the team's official website lists him as the Week 2 starter. Caddy rushed for 111 yards in his first outing against the Saints last year, but he was held to just 39 yards in the second meeting. Given his lousy track record of playing through pain, we strongly recommend giving serious consideration to other comparable running back options for your fantasy lineup today.

Caddy hopes to play Sunday

Cadillac Williams will be a game-time call on Sunday. He was able to take part in a limited practice on Thursday, according to the St. Petersberg Times. "I'll go out and try it on Sunday, fly around and bump around," Williams said. "It feels real good." Caddy has a rib injury, so even if he starts the game, it's iffy whether he'll be able to stay on the field for the full contest.

Williams will likely try to play

Buccaneers running back Cadillac Williams appears as if he will try to play Sunday against the Saints despite a rib injury that he suffered last week in Seattle, according to ESPN. Williams will likely not be close to 100 percent in this game and there appears to be some doubt as to if he'll be able to make it through four quarters Sunday, so we'd advise looking for other options with your running backs.

Hilliard likely to start

Ike Hilliard is expected to start as the No. 2 wide receiver for the Buccaneers on Sunday, according to Friday's Tampa Tribune. He also started in Week 1. Hilliard will share playing time with Michael Clayton and Maurice Stovall, so don't get overly excited over his starting role.

Caddy does some work Thursday

Cadillac Williams was back at practice Thursday, albeit in a limited fashion. He's dealing with a sore rib and for the moment appears questionable for Sunday's game with New Orleans. Unless you're absolutely stuck for a second or third back this week, it's hard to endorse a nicked-up Williams as a fantasy option.

Williams feeling better

Carnell Williams' injured ribs are feeling better and he might play in Week 2. "The (ribs) are doing a lot better," Williams told the St. Petersburg Times on Wednesday. "From Sunday to today, they're a lot better so everything is looking very positive right now." He will most likely be listed as questionable on Friday's injury report. This sounds a lot more encouraging than reports out of Tampa on Tuesday. Williams had trouble sleeping on Sunday and Monday night, but it sounds like he's feeling better. We'll keep fantasy owners updated on his status throughout the week. Michael Pittman will most likely start if Williams is unable to play.

Boston released

The Buccaneers released troubled wide receiver David Boston on Wednesday just six days after he was charged with DUI, according to the St. Petersburg Times. The team signed wide receiver and kick return specialist Mark Jones to fill Boston's spot on the roster. One can only assume that this is it for Boston. He's battled injuries and steroid issues in the past, so it's hard to imagine any team willing to take on his baggage.

Keiaho battling dislocated elbow

Freddy Keiaho, who replaced Cato June as the Colts' starting strong-side linebacker and recorded an interception in the season opener, was optimistic that he'll be able to play this Sunday despite having suffered a dislocated right elbow. "It's still up in the air," Keiaho told the Indianapolis Star. "Hopefully the best will happen and I'll recover and have two healthy arms by Sunday." Keiaho was a sneaky IDP sleeper, stepping into a role in which June posted some very helpful fantasy stats. Colts coach Tony Dungy indicated that he also thought Keiaho would play Sunday against the Titans, so it's looking like you can add him to your IDP lineup this week.

Boston probable

Head coach Jon Gruden said Monday that David Boston is probable for Week 2 with a foot injury, according to the St. Petersburg Times. Boston suffered the injury during pre-game warm-ups on Sunday. Boston has bigger problems than his sprained foot. He tested positive for GHB after falling asleep at the wheel of his car, which was still in drive at the time. He's been suspended before by the league, so don't be surprised if the commissioner comes down hard on the troubled wide receiver.

Stevens found guilty of DUI

Jerramy Stevens was found guilty of drunken driving on Friday. He's scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 2, according to the St. Petersburg Times. He could face 30 days in jail. At this point, it's believed that Stevens will accompany the Bucs for their opener, but nothing is certain. He almost certainly will face a suspension from the NFL at some point, too.

Jackson starting

Rookie Tanard Jackson will start at safety for the Buccaneers on Sunday, according to the St. Petersburg Times. He is expected to replace free safety Will Allen in the starting lineup. Jackson showed playmaking ability during the preseason. He could make an impact in IDP leagues if he can keep the starting job.

Boston still facing DUI charge

David Boston is still facing a DUI charge after his urinalysis test results were returned to the Pinellas Park Police Department on Thursday. "The result of the urinalysis will not be released by the Pinellas Park Police Department at this time as the case remains under active investigation and prosecution," a police spokesman told the St. Petersburg Times. The Bucs declined to comment on Friday. We expect Boston to play on Sunday against the Seahawks, but we'll let you know if anything changes between now and then.
