McKinnie punishment undetermined

Minnesota Vikings HC Brad Childress said he hasn't determined whether he will punish LT Bryant McKinnie for his confrontation at a Miami nightclub, according to nj.com. Childress, who was at the scouting combine, is still trying to gather all of the information. "I don't have all the information because I've been in meetings and workouts all weekend, but I have gotten a chance to speak with his family," Childress said. He declined to elaborate on his discussion with McKinnie's family. McKinnie was charged with a felony (aggravated battery) along with lesser charges including disorderly conduct and resisting arrest without violence. So if his lawyer is unable to plea down the charges, McKinnie almost certainly will face the wrath of Commissioner Roger Goodell.

Winfield ready

Antoine Winfield plans to play on Sunday against the 49ers. He told KFAN radio that he is 100 percent certain that he will play after missing four of the last five games with a hamstring injury. Winfield felt 95 percent healthy on Sunday, but he felt a slight pull during warm-ups and the medical team opted to hold him out. He is solid against the run and logs plenty of tackles for IDP owners.

Williamson back on the job

Troy Williamson returned to practice after missing a week so that he could be with his family following the death of his grandmother. "I'd throw this football thing away for my family," Williamson told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. He did not play in the Week 9 win over the Chargers. There's no word yet as to whether Williamson will start on Sunday against the Packers. Rookie Sidney Rice filled in last week and caught a long touchdown pass.

Wade wounded

Bobby Wade suffered a hyperextended knee and a bone bruise during Sunday's loss to the Eagles. The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported on Tuesday that the training staff will wait until the swelling goes down in his knee to make a decision on his status for Week 9. We'll keep any fantasy owners who actually care about Wade updated on his status throughout the week.

George wants another chance

Jeff George would like to resume his playing career with the Vikings. "With a running back like Adrian Peterson, I would be licking my chops," George told Tuesday's St. Paul Pioneer Press. "With that running back, you need someone who can throw that deep ball, and I know I still can. I don't care about the talent at receiver." Well, George and Brad Childress have at least one thing in common - Chilly doesn't seem to care about the lack of wideout talent either. George is 39 years old and hasn't thrown a pass in an NFL game since 2001. Granted, it's not like the Purple could possibly be any worse with George taking the snaps, but it's safe to assume that they'd rather play for the future.

Jackson set to be under center

Tarvaris Jackson took all of the first-team snaps in practice on Friday. "I'm listing him as probable," coach Brad Childress told the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "How's that? He practiced better today out there." Despite the coach's coy comment, Jackson is expected to return from his groin injury on Sunday.

Jackson limited

Tarvaris Jackson was limited during practice on Wednesday, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press. He has missed the last two games with a groin injury. Jackson has told reporters that he believes he'll be healthy enough to play on Sunday. It remains to be seen whether Brad Childress agrees.

Moore on the move?

The Buccaneers have contacted the Vikings regarding the possibility of acquiring Mewelde Moore. The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that the Bucs offered the Vikings a sixth-round draft pick in exchange for Moore, but the Vikings declined the offer and are holding out for a first-day pick. Moore has been inactive both times Chester Taylor and Adrian Peterson were healthy enough to play, so good luck getting that first-day pick, Vikes. What's worse is that Moore will be a free agent after the season.

Williamson will play

Troy Williamson is active for Sunday's game against the Packers. He did not play last week due to a hamstring injury. This is huge news for fantasy owners who play in 40-team leagues. Otherwise, not so much.

Holcomb to start

Head coach Brad Childress stopped just shy of outright naming Kelly Holcomb the starting quarterback for Sunday's game against the Packers. "(Holcomb) has been taking most of the reps and Tarvaris is questionable," Childress told the Minneapolis Star Tribune after practice on Friday. "You can draw your own logical conclusions from that." Jackson has been limited in practice by a groin injury. No surprise here. Jackson should be ready to play following the Week 5 bye. Childress has already stated that Tarvaris will get his starting job back regardless of how well Holcomb performs on Sunday.

Taylor will play

Chester Taylor will make his first appearance since Week 1 when the Vikings face the Packers on Sunday. "He'll start the game, and Adrian (Peterson) will be in after him," head coach Brad Childress told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Peterson missed the last two games with a strained oblique. Fantasy owners should finally get some idea as to how the Vikings intend to divvy up the carries between Taylor and Peterson. Although Taylor will start, we still believe the rookie will be heavily involved in the offense.

Jackson limited

Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson was limited in practice Wednesday by the groin injury which had him inactive in Week 3, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. With a bye next week, the Vikings may opt to give Jackson three weeks of rest and bring him back in Week 5. If he doesn't suit up, Kelly Holcomb will get the start against Green Bay.

Taylor limited

Vikings running back Chester Taylor was limited during Wednesday's practice, according to the Star-Tribune. He hasn't played since season opener because of a hip injury. There is a good chance Taylor debuts this week against the Packers, and he will likely cost Adrian Peterson about 10 carries over the course of the game.

Jackson questionable again

It's too soon to say whether Tarvaris Jackson will be healthy enough to play in Week 4. However, head coach Brad Childress has already stated that Kelly Holcomb would get the start if Jackson's tender groin prevents him from playing against the Packers. Does it really matter? The Vikings offense has struggled with and without Jackson. Nevertheless, we'll keep fantasy owners updated on T-Jack's status throughout the week.

Taylor questionable, but aims to play

It appears that the Vikings may get Chester Taylor back in action for Week 3. Although he's listed a questionable, he said he should be all right for the game, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "I'm looking forward to playing," he said. "Right now, I'm supposed to be playing so I'll take it from there." Since he's still not fully recovered from his hip injury, you won't want to play him. His status is more relevant to the overall production of Adrian Peterson, who should still handle the bulk of carries, regardless.

Smith sidelined

Dwight Smith missed a second consecutive day of practice with a hamstring injury, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. If Smith sits out, Tank Williams would most likely get the start against the Chiefs. The Vikings have a lot of depth at safety, so they shouldn't miss Smith too much this week. IDP owners should check back for future updates regarding Smith's status for Sunday.

Taylor limited

Chester Taylor was limited during practice on Wednesday. He is still nursing the strained oblique muscle that caused him to miss Week 2. Head coach Brad Childress has been mum regarding Taylor this week. He promised an update on Wednesday, yet offered nothing more than the required injury update.

Jackson doesn't practice

Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson missed Wednesday's practice because of the groin injury he suffered last Sunday against the Lions. There is still a chance Jackson suits up this Sunday, but that is becoming increasingly unlikely with each passing day. Head coach Brad Childress won't announce who'll start if Jackson can't go, but the general consensus among the Minneapolis media is that Kelly Holcomb would get the nod.

Jackson walking gingerly

Tarvaris Jackson was still in noticeable pain when he reported to team headquarters for treatment on his injured groin, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported on Tuesday. He is considered questionable for Sunday's game against the Chiefs. Brad Childress has already stated that Jackson will start if healthy. However, he declined to say whether Kelly Holcomb or Brooks Bollinger would start if Jackson were unable top play.

Williamson should be fine

Although Troy Williamson left Sunday's game against the Lions with a hamstring spasm, he is expected to be fine, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Williamson is expected to play on Sunday against the Chiefs. With only four receptions for 42 yards this season, Williamson hasn't been much of a fantasy factor.
