Roby signed

Wide receiver Courtney Roby, a former third-round pick of the Tennessee Titans, was among five free agents signed by the Colts. Roby, who played his high school and college ball in the Hoosier State, has 23 career catches. With Indy Gwyneth Paltrow-thin at wide receiver, he may actually compete for a roster spot next season.

Sorgi set for action

Though Peyton Manning will make his 160th consecutive regular season start in Indy's season finale, Jim Sorgi will handle the bulk of the workload. "I know Jim Sorgi's going to play at least a half," head coach Tony Dungy told the Indianapolis Star. "I don't know how early he'll get in the game, if he'll get in the first half. You play for your team and you really can't worry about anybody else. We've got to get ourselves ready to go and just play the best we can and get ourselves ready for the playoffs." History suggests that Manning will be around for one series, which is what he's played the last two times the Colts have found themselves in a similar Week 17 situation. Sorgi has thrown for 375 yards and four touchdowns in those two games.

Freeney may be done for season

Dwight Freeney's season is likely over, according to the Indianapolis Star. The three-time Pro Bowl defensive end probably faces surgery to repair damage to his left foot, a source close to Freeney told the paper Tuesday. Injuries continue to riddle the Colts as they try to defend their title. Freeney isn't the best player on the Indy defense any longer, but he's still an elite player and this is a major blow to the team's pass rush.

Harrison running

Marvin Harrison practiced on a limited basis Wednesday as Colts trainers put him through a strenuous workout to simulate game action, according to the Indianapolis Star. "When we get him in practice, I think that's when we know he's going to play," head coach Tony Dungy told the Star. "When that is satisfactory to them, then they'll let him go." Aaron Moorehead is expected to replace Harrison in the starting lineup for this week's game against the Chargers.

Harrison likely a game-time call

Marvin Harrison is still considered questionable for the Monday night tilt with the Jags due to a knee injury and will likely be a game-time decision. "We'll see how much he can do," coach Tony Dungy said before Saturday's practice, adding that the practice would be "a good indicator" of whether Harrison would be able to play or not, according to the AP. Dungy said earlier this week that he thought Harrison would be able to play. We think that Harrison will probably be on the field Monday, but it might be a good idea to make a contingency plan.

Thorpe signed

The Colts signed receiver Craphonso Thorpe from the practice squad to add depth to a banged up receiving corps. Thorpe could see some snaps if Marvin Harrison and Aaron Moorehead – who are both listed as questionable – do not play. Thorpe could also see kick return duty if also questionable T.J. Rushing has trouble with his injured hamstring. Thorpe would need all three of those guys to not play to even have a shot at being a fantasy factor, and even then we wouldn't recommend playing him unless injuries and bye weeks decimated your roster in a 14-plus team league.

Dungy not expecting injured stars to play

Both Joseph Addai and Marvin Harrison will be held out of Wednesday's practice, and Colts coach Tony Dungy indicated the team is prepared to play without them. "I'm not expecting any of them to play," Dungy told the Indianapolis Star of the quintet of injured Colts, including Addai and Harrison. "If they practice by Friday or Saturday and can go [we'll see]. What we've got to do is get our backup guys ready to play." Dungy added that if the injured players were available it would be "a bonus." Better get Kenton Keith and Aaron Moorehead warming up in the bullpen. We'll know more on Friday if either Addai or Harrison—or Ben Utecht or Bob Sanders, for that matter; Rob Morris is already done for the year—return to practice. Indy has a bye in week six, so the decision may be to give Joe and Marv an extra week off to rest up for the playoff push.

Utecht deals with concussion

Ben Utecht left Sunday's game with a concussion, the AP reports. His status for Week 5's game with Tampa Bay is not known. Utecht has some ability as a pass catcher, though he gets lost in the shuffle with the Colts, who have several preferred options ahead of him.

Harrison status unclear for Week 5

Marvin Harrison missed the final 2 1/2 quarters against Denver Sunday, and it's not clear if he'll be able to play in Week 5, the AP reports. "I don't think it's a long-term thing, and Marvin didn't think so either when I talked to him," team president Bill Polian said on his weekly radio show Monday. "But we haven't gotten the results of the MRI yet, so I can't tell you for sure."The Colts are reasonably straightforward with their injury disclosures, so we'll see what Tony Dungy has to say at the end of the week.

Addai's bruised shoulder not serious

Joseph Addai exited Sunday's game with a bruised shoulder and did not return. The Colts had the game under control at the time, and coach Tony Dungy said Addai would have come back in had the Broncos scored again, according to the Rocky Mountain News. Backup Kenton Keith did well while Addai was out and makes a good handcuff. But right now, it appears that Addai escaped without a serious injury and probably will be ready for Week 5.

Clark returns to practice on Friday

Dallas Clark was able to return to practice on Friday. He had been held out of the previous sessions this week due to a neck injury, according to the Indianapolis Star. Barring a setback in his condition, expect Clark to start on Sunday.

Keiaho, Morris inactive

Colts starting linebackers Freddy Keiaho and Rob Morris are both inactive for Sunday's game against the Titans. Rocky Boiman and Ty Hagler will start in their place, with Hagler making his first NFL start. This is good news for Chris Brown and Vince Young owners, who may have been nervous after watching Indy's D shut down the Saints last week.

Keiaho unlikely to suit up Sunday

Freddie Keiaho is not expected to play on Sunday. "My sense is we'll probably hold him out," coach Tony Dungy said, according to the Indianapolis Star. "He could play, but I think wisdom would probably be . . . to hold him out and see if we can get him well." Keiaho, who dislocated his right elbow in the opener, will be replaced by Tyjuan Hagler at weak-side linebacker.

Keiaho sits

Linebacker Freddy Keiaho was held out of Wednesday's practice after dislocating his right elbow in the season opener. "He's sore and we'll see how much he's able to do," Colts coach Tony Dungy told the Indianapolis Star. "We'll know a little more [Thursday] and see how he gets through practice." If Keiaho is unable to play Sunday against the Titans, Tyjuan Hagler would be in line to make his first NFL start.

Colts: Sanders unable to perform

Colts safety Bob Sanders is starting the preseason on the physically unable to perform list because of his shoulder injury. He underwent surgery on his left shoulder during the offseason. Sanders is expected to be ready to go by the start of the regular season and remains an integral part of the team's defensive plans.

Colts: Team won't pressure Glenn

The Colts won't pressure tackle Tarik Glenn to return, but they have asked him to make a final decision on his retirement before training camp opens. "I've told him when he's ready, obviously sometime before Saturday, let us know and we'll talk it through," team president Bill Polian told the Indianapolis Star. "Obviously he's been a great player here and we looked forward to having him as long as we could. But he's got to do what's right for him." Should Glenn walk away after 10 years in the league, he would leave a $4.5 million base salary on the table. The Colts drafted Tony Ugoh in the second round in preparation for Glenn's potential departure, as he would become an unrestricted free agent following the 2007 season. However, it's more likely second-year tackle Charles Johnson would step in on the left side if Glenn does in fact hang up his cleats.

Colts: "Burned out" Glenn plans to retire

Tarik Glenn has told the Colts that he plans to retire, according to ESPN.com. Glenn is a 10-year veteran who's been to three Pro Bowls. Glenn hasn't been a dominant player the last few years, but he's still a significant loss for Indy's offensive line, especially as he's the man who protected Peyton Manning's blind side

Colts: Freeney deal cap-friendly for now

Dwight Freeney's giant contract extension is actually cap-friendly for the Colts over the next two years, according to ESPN.com. The Colts realize their window of opportunity for another title is closing quickly, so I don't blame the organization for making a push over the next couple of years, then dealing with the serious cap ramifications down the road.

Colts: Freeney gets paid big-time

The Colts signed defensive end Dwight Freeney to a six-year, $72 million contract that makes him the highest paid defensive player in the history of the NFL, according to the Indianapolis Star. Freeney's agent confirmed to the Star that the contract includes a $30 million signing bonus. Just think what those numbers would be if Freeny wouldn't have underachieved last season when he recorded just five and a half sacks. Of course, the deal assumes he'll be a whole lot more like the player who rolled up 51 sacks in his first four seasons. And if he is, he'll move back up near the tip-top of the IDP rankings.

Colts: Ishola added

The Colts added defensive end Ben Ishola to their practice squad as part of the league's international developmental practice squad program. The native of Berlin played collegiately at Indiana and collected five sacks for the Hamburg Sea Devils in NFL Europa last season. While Ishola is clearly no threat to Dwight Freeney, this isn't the wurst move the Colts could make. What, you didn't see that coming?
