Hall to return; Young uncertain

Broncos running back Andre Hall should be back in action this week after missing last Sunday's game due to a high ankle sprain, but the club could be without Selvin Young, who suffered a right arm injury, the Rocky Mountain News reports. Every week is a drama with the Broncos backfield. If he's not suspended, Travis Henry should start this week against the Chiefs and would be the best fantasy play of the lot.

Four RB in for workouts

The Broncos invited four running backs in for tryouts on Tuesday, the Denver Post reports. Wali Lundy, Steven Jackson, Marquis Weeks, and Ray Perkins all worked out for the club. The Broncos didn't sign anyone yet, but this move may mean the club believes Travis Henry will lose his appeal and be suspended in the next few weeks.

Henry misses practice

Broncos running back Travis Henry did not practice on Wednesday due to swelling in his left knee. Head coach Mike Shanahan tells the Rocky Mountain News that he expects Henry to play in Week 10 against the Chiefs. This is the latest in a long line of injuries for Henry, who hasn't scored since Week 3 or had more than 51 rushing yards since Week 5. He's not a very good start this Sunday.

Cutler practices

Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler practiced on Wednesday despite a bruised left leg. "He's a tough kid," head coach Mike Shanahan tells the Denver Post. "He'll play if he can... If there isn't a setback, he should be ready to go."Fantasy owners should steer clear of both Cutler and backup Patrick Ramsey this week, as the Broncos aren't playing well and the Chiefs have a pretty good pass defense.

Walker vows early return

Broncos wide receiver Javon Walker claims he'll be back sooner than the six-week timeframe prescribed following his October 19 right knee surgery. "It will be sooner than six weeks," Walker tells the Denver Post. "It will be much sooner than that. It feels much better now." Even a six-week timetable allows for Walker to return for all of December, and there's a chance he could be relevant in fantasy leagues for four or five games down the stretch. He's worth stashing on the end of your bench.

Bailey's status should be known Saturday

Champ Bailey was able to take part in some of Friday's practice, though it remains unclear if he will be able to play on Sunday. "It'll be decided (today)," Bailey said, according to the Denver Post. "We'll see." Bailey is dealing with a strained quadriceps, and hopefully final word on his status will come Saturday. His absence would make things a lot easier on the Steelers' passing game.

Henry's NFL appeal to be heard Nov. 5

The NFL has set a hearing for Travis Henry to make his appeal of a one-year suspension for testing positive for marijuana. It will take place on Nov.5, according to the Denver Post. Henry also is fighting the suspension through the legal system, so it likely will be close to Thanksgiving before we find out if he'll be done for the season.

Rice healthy but will be inactive again

Simeon Rice doesn't like his situation with the Broncos right now, but he doesn't plan to ask to be released. Rice is expected to be left off their active roster again this week, according to the Denver Post. "I'm the highest-paid scout-team player in the country," he said. "How can I be upset? I won the lottery. I'm making ($3 million) for doing nothing." That doesn't sound too bad, but he's clearly frustrated with his situation. He said he's fully recovered from his shoulder surgery, but for now, he's not part of Denver's gameday plans.

Hixon released

The Broncos released wide receiver and return man Domenik Hixon on Tuesday. Hixon averaged 22.8 yards per kick return and 4.6 yards per punt return through four games. They signed Brian Clark to take his place. This news does not affect fantasy teams.

Walker unsure about Week 5

Broncos wide receiver Javon Walker is sure that his right knee won't keep him out in the long run, but he is not certain about Week 5. "I've done long-term before, and this is not it," Walker tells the Denver Post. "I just have to wait for it to drain." He insists that this swelling and inflammation has nothing to do with the torn ACL he suffered in 2005. Walker did not play in Week 4 against the Colts. If Walker isn't available for Week 5 against the Chargers, we'll also downgrade Jay Cutler, who did not play particularly well without his top target this past Sunday.

No update on Henry

Broncos running back Travis Henry underwent an MRI on his injured right knee and sprained right ankle on Monday. The results were not made available, the Rocky Mountain News reports. X-rays taken on Sunday were negative. Henry returned to the field on Sunday after twisting his leg, which gives us some hope that he will be fine for Week 5. However, his status is a bit iffy right now, and fantasy owners may want to grab Selvin Young just in case.

Henry sprains ankle but returns

Travis Henry left Sunday's game briefly after spraining his right ankle, but he returned to finish the contest. He was taken for X-rays after the game and will be further evaluated on Monday, according to the Rocky Mountain News. Henry owners can only see the brittle RB get dinged up so many times before handcuffing him with backup Selvin Young, who played well Sunday in Henry's absence.

Lynch aims for Week 5 return

John Lynch was unable to play through his sore groin on Sunday. "I felt all right, but it was still there," Lynch told the Rocky Mountain News. "The trainers, Mike (Shanahan) and everyone made the decision for me at that point. I went out there (Sunday), but I don't think I had much of a chance." Lynch said he hopes to play in Week 5 against the Chargers, but we'll have to wait to see how his groin responds over the next week.

Hamilton hits IR

Broncos starting left guard Ben Hamilton was placed on injured reserve due to continued effects of a concussion he sustained nearly two months ago, ESPN.com reported. Third-year vet Chris Myers will continue to start in Hamilton's absence. Travis Henry should be able to produce regardless, but obviously losing your starting left guard for the entire season doesn't help his ability to run between the tackles.

Broncos: Lynch will be game-time decision

John Lynch will be a game-time decision on Sunday. The veteran is battling a groin injury that he suffered last week, according to NFL.com. Given that the Broncos are facing Indy, their D isn't a good fantasy play, anyway. Stay away from Lynch in IDP leagues.

Walker not expected to play

It appears Javon Walker owners will have to use someone else at wideout Sunday. Walker is likely to sit out Sunday's game due to a sore right knee, according to NFL.com. The two Brandon's - Marshall and Stokley - will start if Walker in fact cannot go. Marshall's value certainly goes up, while Stokley is usable in deeper leagues.

Walker tests knee in practice

Javon Walker is listed as questionable for Sunday's game. He returned to take part in a limited practice on Friday to test out his sore right knee, according to the Rocky Mountain News. It appears that Walker will be a game-time call Sunday, but it's looking more likely that he will be able to suit up for the contest.

Bell sits with concussion

Broncos running back Mike Bell did not practice on Wednesday due to a concussion. He is day-to-day, the Denver Post reports. Bel no longer has much fantasy value, so this news shouldn't affect your team.

Cutler practices

Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler was able to fully participate in Wednesday's practice despite the ankle injury he suffered last weekend, according to the team's website. The fact Cutler was able to go full speed on Wednesday pretty much guarantees he is going to play this Sunday.

Cutler injures ankle

Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler injured his ankle on Sunday and will undergo further examination on Monday, the Denver Post reports. He didn't miss any snaps against the Jaguars, and the ailment is thought to be minor. We'll update Cutler's status when more is known. Patrick Ramsey is the backup, and we'd obviously downgrade the passing game if the Broncos need to turn the offense over to the journeyman.
