McNabb to practice

Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb is expected to practice on Wednesday, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. He has missed the last two games due to a sprained right ankle and sore right thumb. The Eagles host the Giants this Sunday. McNabb was having trouble pushing off his ankle last week, and we're not sure how much more effective he'll be this Sunday. That being said, he's shown a lot of toughness in the past and is worth a look in fantasy leagues provided he makes it through the practice week.

Everyone practices

The Eagles have nine players on their injury report for Week 10, but everyone practiced fully on Wednesday. The list included running back Brian Westbrook (shoulder), tight end L.J. Smith (back), and wide receivers Reggie Brown (neck), Kevin Curtis (knee), Jason Avant (groin), and Greg Lewis (chest). We don't like seeing all those names on the report, but we're guessing the Eagles are just being more open than most teams at this point. Just about everyone in the league is dealing with nicks and bruises and sprains at this point.

Considine out for season

Strong safety Sean Considine was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday, ending his season for the Eagles. Considine injured his left shoulder during the loss to the Cowboys on Sunday. Quintin Mikell, who filled in for Brian Dawkins when he was injured earlier this year, will start in Considine's place. This is Considine's second injury to the same shoulder in three years, so his durability is obviously in question. This won't affect the Eagles secondary all that much, especially since they just got Dawkins back in the lineup.

Smith to be limited in return to field

L.J. Smith is expected to return to game action on Sunday. However, coach Andy Reid said the tight end likely will be limited, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. Returning from a second surgery on his groin, it appears that Smith will be worked back into action slowly over the next few weeks. That means he's not a good play this weekend.

Westbrook set to return to action

Brian Westbrook is set to return to action on Sunday. He appeared recovered from his abdominal strain as he went full speed in practice on Friday, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. Hopefully, the frail running back will avoid aggravating the injury in the game.

Westbrook listed as questionable

The Eagles once again practiced Friday without Brian Westbrook. They are listing him as questionable, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. All signs point to Westbrook being a game-time decision Sunday due to his abdominal strain. We'll update you on his status when more information becomes available.

Westbrook sits again

Brian Westbrook was held out of practice again on Thursday as he continues to battle an abdominal injury. Westbrook missed practice early last week with a knee injury, then made it through a workout on Friday, suited up on Sunday and ran for three touchdowns. Those who employ Westbrook have gotten used to his constant presence on the injury report, but as long as he battles the nagging injuries and performs on Sunday, beggars can't be choosers. We'll update Westbrook's status over the weekend and on Sunday before game time.

Sheppard expected to sit again

Eagles cornerback Lito Sheppard did not practice on Wednesday and is not expected to play in Week 4 against the Giants, the Philadelphia Daily News reports. Sheppard sprained the MCL in his right knee in the season opener. William James is starting in his place. This is good news for Eli Manning, Plaxico Burress, Amani Toomer, and the rest of the Giants passing game. Sheppard is the best cover man the Eagles have.

Vague update on Westbrook

Eagles running back Brian Westbrook did not practice on Wednesday. He is dealing with an abdominal strain suffered on Sunday. "It's not by big strides that he's getting better, but he is making improvement," head coach Andy Reid tells the team's official web site. "It was important a day or two after the game that he wasn't regressing at all... We'll just see how he feels through these next couple of days." Westbrook played in Week 3 despite missing some practice time due to a sore left knee. The gut feeling is that Westbrook will suit up against the Giants on Sunday night, but fantasy owners might want to grab Correll Buckhalter just in case. We'll obviously monitor Westbrook's status as the week continues.

Smith out again

The Eagles will be without the services of tight end L.J. Smith in Week 4 against the Giants. He has been ruled out as he continues to recover from groin surgery on September 21, the team's official web site reports. Matt Schobel will start in his place. Fantasy owners will once again need to use a different tight end this week. Smith's absence did not affect Donovan McNabb last week, and hopefully No. 5 won't miss him on Sunday night.

Westbrook to have CT scan on ribs

The initial diagnosis of the injury that forced Brian Westbrook out of Sunday's game is bruised ribs. X-rays taken after the contest came back negative, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. He'll have a CT scan taken Monday morning, which should give us a better idea of his availability for Week 4. Westbrook is a fantasy monster when he's on the field, but injuries remain a constant concern. He had over 200 yards total offense and three touchdowns before leaving Sunday's contest.

Rough day for Andrews

Eagles right guard Shawn Andrews had a rough day on Sunday despite the big win over the Lions. The All-Pro guard was poked in the eye in the first half and then tweaked a knee in the second half. "He banged his knee against somebody else," head coach Andy Reid tells the team's official web site. Max Jean-Gilles took his place. The Eagles line isn't quite the same without the studly Andrews, but Jean-Gilles has shown that he can hold his own, at least as a temporary fill-in.

Thomas injures knee

Eagles left tackle William Thomas strained the MCL in his knee during the second half of Sunday's win over the Lions. Winston Justice replaced him, but Thomas returned later in the game. The injury is not believed to be serious, head coach Andy Reid tells the team's official web site. Thomas is a rock on Donovan McNabb's blindside, but the Eagles won't be in bad hands when Justice steps in. Luckily, they have good, talented depth at that crucial line spot.

Dawkins expects to play

Eagles safety Brian Dawkins expects to play in Week 3 despite a sore neck. He suffered a stinger on Monday night and did not practice on Wednesday. "I'm being very cautious," Dawkins tells the team's official web site. "That's why I came out of the game the way I did. I'm just trying to get better. We'll see how it feels during the week." The Eagles are 0-2, and Dawkins is a team leader. It's going to take a lot to keep him out of action this Sunday, and we betting on him suiting up.

Westbrook all right

Eagles running back Brian Westbrook underwent an MRI Wednesday, but NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports that team officials have told him the knee injury is not considered serious. Westbrook missed practice Wednesday for the MRI, but it appears he'll be in uniform for Week 3. Keep him in your lineup unless he misses the next two practices.

Westbrook to undergo MRI

Eagles running back Brian Westbrook will not practice on Wednesday and is slated to undergo an MRI on his knee, the team's official web site reports. He injured the joint in the third quarter on Monday night and returned after missing a very short time. There's not enough information yet for fantasy owners to panic, but it wouldn't hurt to make sure Correll Buckhalter is on your bench. Given that Westbrook returned quickly on Monday night, we're led to believe this injury isn't too serious.

Dawkins undergoes MRI

Eagles safety Brian Dawkins underwent an MRI on Tuesday, and the news sounded positive. "He'll be alright as the week goes on here," head coach Andy Reid tells the team's official web site. Dawkins suffered a neck stinger during the fourth quarter of Monday's loss to the Redskins. Like most coaches, Reid went with a very general, somewhat vague answer. The Eagles defense isn't the same when the X-factor isn't around. If he's out this week, that's very good news for fantasy owners invested in the Lions.

Westbrook has sore knee

Eagles running back Brian Westbrook suffered a minor knee strain on Monday, and the injury is not expected to keep him out long. "He twisted his knee a little bit," head coach Andy Reid tells the team's official web site. Westbrook spent a moment on the trainer's table late in Monday's game, but he returned to the field after a quick examination. We imagine his knee was the issue. It doesn't sound serious, and we'll obviously monitor it throughout the coming week.

Dawkins suffers stinger

Eagles safety Brian Dawkins suffered a stinger in the fourth quarter of Monday's loss to the Redskins, the Philadelphia Inquirer notes. Dawkins went to the locker room and did not return. Stingers vary greatly in degree of seriousness, and the Eagles obviously hope this one doesn't linger. Dawkins is the heart and soul of that defense.

Smith to see limited snaps Sunday

L.J. Smith is expected to play again in Week 2. However, offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg indicated that the tight end would see a limited amount of plays as he works his way back from hernia surgery, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. He played about half of last week's offensive sets and caught two balls for 14 yards. Until he's full strength, Smith is a risky fantasy play.
