Opponents of the Bills have made a point to eliminate big plays, generally by making liberal use of the blitz and by rolling coverage to Lee Evans on deep pass routes. "When you're playing against pressure defense like we have the first two weeks you've got to make plays in the passing game and when you do you usually have big days," offensive coordinator Steve Fairchild told the team's official website. "We just haven't made enough of them." Don't count on J.P. Losman and Evans hooking up for many big plays against the stingy Patriots this week, either. Not surprisingly, neither has a good history against New England, and neither represent strong plays in Week 3.
