Tight ends signed

In the wake of the catastrophic injury to backup tight end Kevin Everett, the Bills on Monday signed two veteran tight ends. According to the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle, Matt Murphy and Michael Gaines were both added to the roster on Monday. Murphy had been with the Bills since midway through last year before being released last Saturday. Gaines started 21 of 42 games in his first three seasons with the Panthers before reaching an injury settlement with Carolina after being placed on injured reserve last week. He has a shoulder injury but passed his physical on Monday and will likely serve as starter Robert Royal's backup as soon as he's up to speed.
