Dolphins: Culpepper asks for his release

Daunte Culpepper has asked the Dolphins to release him, the AP reports. Culpepper, who serves as his own agent, made the request Thursday -- one day after the Dolphins completed the Trent Green trade. Miami has told Culpepper it will attempt to deal him.

Culpepper will likely have to settle for a backup job somewhere, unless he opts to play the waiting game most of the summer - figuring that some team may lose a starting QB at some point.
