Alex Smith suffered a separated right shoulder during Sunday's game and did not return. Coach Mike Nolan said he considered Smith to be doubtful for Week 5 against the Ravens, according to the Contra Costa Times. Trent Dilfer replaced Smith and was pretty awful (12-of-33 for 128 yards and two interceptions), so he wouldn't be an appealing option against the Ravens.
