Thompson signs

The NewsVeteran safety LaMont Thompson was signed on Tuesday and will compete with Donovin Darius and Travares Tillman for the right to replace injured starter Yeremiah Bell, reports the Miami Herald. Darius has the inside track on the starting job, though he'll likely need a week or two to get up to speed. Neither veteran is in his prime, but between Darius and Thompson the Fish should be able to fill the gaping hole left in their secondary when Bell went down with a season-ending Achilles injury in Week 1.
