Smith downgraded

L.J. Smith was downgraded to questionable for the season opener following the team's walkthrough on Saturday, according to the AP. He has been battling a groin injury that sidelined him for all of the preseason games. "I'm working hard to get back on the field, but your body is going to tell you when it's ready," Smith said after Friday's practice. "If I can't go out there and be efficient when I'm out there then what's the point of going out there." If Smith can't play, veteran Matt Schobel and rookie Brent Celek would fill in. Even if Smith does play, owners may want to scavenge the waiver wire for a short-term replacement, because he's likely to be at least somewhat limited.
