Simpson, Webster placed on IR

Injured defensive backs Ko Simpson and Jason Webster were both placed on injured reserve by the Bills on Thursday. "It's going to be tough, but the guys behind them have to step up, that's why they're in the league," safety Donte Whitner told the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle. "It's not really a big dropoff, in most cases, from the first-string guy to the second-string guy." Jim Leonhard, who recorded 13 tackles and an interception last week, will step in for Simpson, but it's not as clear who will replace Webster. Ashton Youboty and Kiwaukee Thomas are in the running for playing time there, and neither is as seasoned – or good – as Webster. Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger continues to lick his chops at the prospect of facing this depleted secondary on Sunday.
