Sea Devils strike late to silence Thunder

Two fourth-quarter touchdowns helped the Hamburg Sea Devils improve to 4-3 on the season with a victory against a Berlin Thunder club that suffered to a third successive loss.

Casey Bramlet threw a 78-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Josh Davis on the opening play of the final period, while Tony Hollings added a decisive 10-yard run with a little over nine minutes remaining in the contest.

The Thunder made a positive start to proceedings as they took the opening drive of the game and moved into position for Andrew Jacas to convert a 28-yard field goal.

Hamburg responded with 11:28 remaining in the second period when Shane Andrus (Indianapolis Colts) split the uprights with a 41-yard field goal attempt.

Berlin moved into a 7-3 lead when Jacas landed a field goal from 54 yards out in the second quarter. The kick -- worth four points under NFL Europa rules -- was Jacas' third field goal of 50 yards or more this season.

After Davis and Hollings scored for the Sea Devils, Berlin had one final chance to score in the fourth quarter as they attempted a trick play on fourth down at Hamburg's 18-yard line.

Thunder quarterback Travis Lulay (Seattle Seahawks) handed the ball to running back Cal Murray and then headed downfield. Murray threw to Lulay but the quarterback was stopped short of the first down marker by Atlanta Falcons-allocated cornerback Brent Grimes.
